The WKA Kenshusei focuses on training methodology, educational pedagogy, sports science, street self defense, security tactics, first aid and dojo management. The word Kenshusei is made up of three Japanese words: KEN (研), meaning to purify, polish and clean. SHU (修), meaning mastery through training. And SEI (生), meaning disciple or student. So in this context, the word Kenshusei speaks to a Karate Instructor who is/has developed on a proper path of study & training. The goal being to perfect themselves, and their ability to masterfully teach the art of Karate & Self Defense.
The WKA Kenshusei is a MANDATORY one-year program for all WKA Karate instructors. In the spirit of friendship and cooperation, the WKA Kenshusei is open to instructors and prospective instructors from other Martial Arts organizations and independent dojos, regardless of style. The program is administered via 20 short educational units, and 3 weekend seminars that include educational training, lectures and teaching observations by world class master level instructors. The program will include university level scientific instruction on all aspects of Traditional Karate, including the teachings of Okinawan/Japanese/Western Karate masters from the 6th century to the present day.
